The Ministry of Natural Resources is currently undertaking Phase 2 of its strategic policy review of renewable energy development on Crown land. During this review, MNR will not be accepting any new applications for windpower or solar power on Crown land, and will only accept some types of new waterpower development applications.
Small scale and off-grid community proposals are exempt from this approach. For more information, see Section 3.1.1 of the Waterpower Site Release Policy and Section 3.1.1 of the Onshore Windpower Development on Crown Land Policy.
