Energy in Ontario

 

Ontario is fortunate to have a good supply of energy, from both renewable and non-renewable sources. The renewable sources that supply some of the electricity for our growing population include windpower, waterpower and forest biomass. Ontario depends on energy to maintain a healthy economy and a healthy population.

Ontario moves toward a Green Future


Ontario’s Green Energy Act (GEA), and related amendments to other legislation, received Royal Assent on May 14, 2009.  Since then, work has been underway across government to develop the regulations and other tools needed to fully implement the legislation, and Ontario is now open for business.
