Energy in Ontario

 

Ontario is fortunate to have a good supply of energy, from both renewable and non-renewable sources. The renewable sources that supply some of the electricity for our growing population include windpower, waterpower and forest biomass. Ontario depends on energy to maintain a healthy economy and a healthy population.

Waterpower, a Renewable Resource


Supporting the development of renewable energy is part of Ontario’s climate change plan. The Ministry of Natural Resources' new Waterpower Resource Atlas uses state-of-the-art GIS technology to view Ontario's waterpower resources and other natural values.  The atlas will assist with the efficient and sustainable development of our Crown land resources.
