Fishing in Ontario

Enjoy Nature: Fishing in Ontario

Ontario has some of the best fishing in the world

With a quarter million lakes and countless streams and rivers, we have some of the best fishing anywhere. You can drop a line in or near cities - or head to a provincial park. In the north, Crown land provides endless opportunities for angling.

Getting Started

Get all the information you need for a successful fishing experience at Fish Ontario. Check out fishing seasons and regulations (here in Chinese). And find out what you need to do to get a fishing licence – whether you’re an Ontarian or non-resident.

Help keep our fisheries healthy

Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry staff actively manage Ontario’s fisheries. We monitor fish populations, support projects to improve habitat and stock about eight million fish each year.

As an angler, there are lots of things you can do to help keep our waterways and fish populations healthy.
