
Location: McCreight's Dam Ontario Ranger Camp is located on the south-west shore of a beautiful, narrow man-made lake in MNR's Sault Ste. Marie District.

Training and Education: McCreight's Dam Rangers receive training in emergency first aid, Health and Safety, WHMIS, Workplace Discrimination and Harassment Prevention, orientation, flat water canoe skills, low impact camping and tool training.
Other organized educational activities include demonstrations such as one from the Conservation K-9 Unit or tours including that of the fire base or Ontario Forest Research Institute. Rangers also expand their knowledge by visiting places such as Science North, St. Mary's Pulp and Paper Mill or Canadian Forestry Services.
Work Projects: Rangers work in Mississagi and Pancake Bay Provincial Parks clearing hiking trails, camp sites and general maintenance. Rangers also participate in multi-day canoe trips to clear portage routes in the area.
McCreight's Rangers also work on a number of other projects with the ministry and local partners on work such as wood turtle studies and tracking elk using Global Positioning Systems (GPS) equipment, fish sampling and Brook Trout index netting, work on the Trans Canada Trail or at a local First Nations tree nursery.
Recreation: Relationship building is one of the best loved attributes of the Ontario Ranger program. Rangers will make friendships that will last a lifetime. There are a number of organized events such as theme nights, Halloween, movie nights, talent shows, shopping trips, sports, games and Jamboree. There is also time for unscheduled recreation such as swimming, saunas and campfires.
