
Location: Machesney Lake Ranger Camp is located in the MNR Bancroft District. The camp is remotely situated on a beautiful lake near Bon Echo Provincial Park and Cloyne.
About the camp: Machesney Lake Ranger Camp is the largest of the male camps in the program. It has over 12 buildings which accommodate 36 rangers, 7 staff and 2 cooks.

Training and Education: Machesney Rangers receive training and education in emergency first aid, Health and Safety and WHMIS, Workplace Discrimination and Harassment Prevention, orientation, tool training, flat water canoe skills and black bear awareness.
Other organized educational activities include things such as visiting Old Fort Henry, the Museum of Civilization, a logging operation and mill tour and the Algonquin Provincial Park logging museum and visitor centre.
Work Projects: Rangers work in Bon Echo, Algonquin and Kawartha Highlands Provincial Parks brushing park trails and canoe routes, cleaning up camp sites and general maintenance. Much of this work includes multi-day canoe trips to interior areas of parks to complete work on interior hiking trails.
Machesney Rangers also work on a number of other projects including work with local partners. Rangers work a number of fish and stream rehabilitation projects such as enhancing walleye spawning shoals, lake surveys and the removal of beaver dams in order to restore streams to brook trout.
Recreation: Machesney Rangers will find time after a hard days work to enjoy things such as soccer, baseball, fishing, swimming, movies, jam sessions and time in the sauna. There are also opportunities to go to local towns for shopping trips. In 2005, Machesney Ranger Camp hosted the much anticipated, annual Jamboree where several ranger camps join together for a weekend of camaraderie and fun competition.
