What is the Summer Employment Opportunities Program?

• The Summer Employment Opportunities Program is a youth employment program that runs for seven weeks in the summer.
• This program offers job opportunities at ministries across the Ontario Government, including the Ministry of Natural Resources.
• Depending upon the job, the seven-week term will occur sometime between the beginning of May and the beginning of September.
• The Summer Employment Opportunities Program wage rate for 2012 is $10.25 an hour.

Who Can Apply for the Summer Employment Opportunities Program?

To apply for the Summer Employment Opportunities Program, you must:

• Be aged 15 to 24 (up to 29 for persons with a disability);
• All summer jobs require "student" status;
• An Ontario resident; and
• Eligible to work in Canada.

How Do I Apply for the Summer Employment Opportunities Program?

During the hiring season (early March to late June), we provide a link to:   

• Over 1,300 Summer Employment Opportunities positions offered by the Ministry of Natural Resources this summer
• Hundreds of other positions at ministries across the Ontario Government
• Ministry of Natural Resources positions will be posted on March 7 for a minimum of 10 days
• Information on eligibility and how to apply can be found on the OPS Careers site

Please apply individually to each position.  In your application, you must include a:

• Cover letter; and
• Resume.

You may apply to as many positions as you wish.  Be sure to quote the unique Job ID for each position that you are applying for.
