Ontario Ranger LogoAre you looking for a once in a lifetime summer job experience? Do you want to help the environment, enjoy the outdoors, and like making new friends? If you were born in 1991, the Ontario Ranger Program might just be the job you've been looking for.

 

As an Ontario Ranger, you will live and work at one of 13 camps across the province for eight weeks. This program aims to provide participants with a unique combination of work, learning and life experiences. Some of your work projects may include:

 

  • Work in Ontario Parks
  • Planting and clean-up along streams
  • Creating spawning beds for fish “Ontario Rangers…for those who have experienced it, no explanation needed. For those who have not, no explanation possible.”

  • Clearing portage and walking trails
  • Assisting in research of species at risk and other wildlife
  • Participating in local community events

     

After working as a Ranger you will have practical work experience to include on your resume. You will also gain valuable job skills in Health and Safety, First Aid training, team building, time management and professional work ethic. Other learning opportunities could include:

 

  • Tours (fire centres, pulp and paper mills, fish hatcheries, wildlife centres, etc.)
  • Canoe safety courses
  • Camping trips
  • Local Aboriginal events

 

If you were born in 1991, are enrolled in school, are a resident of Ontario and in good physical condition, you are eligible to apply to be a Ranger in 2008. Don’t miss out on this unique job experience. Apply by submitting both the OR Application Form and the OR Reference Form before March 28, 2008.
