Co-operative Education Credit for Ontario Rangers

 

Co-operative Education Program


Manager of Youth Programs presents co-op certificate to Ontario Ranger The Ontario Ranger Program may offer you the opportunity to obtain two high school co-operative education credits during your eight-week summer work term.  In order to gauge the level of demand for this opportunity, the Ontario Ranger application form asks you to indicate your interest in participating. 

 

How To Participate

  • Apply to the Ontario Ranger Program using the application form and reference form available on the web site.  Indicate on the application form that you are interested in a high school co-operative education credit.  Submit both forms to the Youth Employment Section by March 26, 2010.
  • All eligible applicants will be randomly selected through a draw system. Your job offer will be to a specified camp. Once selected for a specific camp, no changes can be made.
  • If the Co-operative Education Credit Program is offered at your camp, you may be eligible to participate.

 

  • Note that indicating “Yes” on the form does not guarantee that the Co-operative Education Credit Program will be available to you. Spaces are limited each year.

 

What it is


A program that allows students to apply two co-op credits towards their compulsory high school graduation requirements, with no limit on earning optional co-op credits.

 

Who it’s For


Students who are heading for university, college, apprenticeship or the workplace.

  • See the relevance of their classroom learning
  • Develop the essential skills and habits required in the workplace
  • Gain valuable work experience to help build a resumé for postsecondary programs and future employment

Final co-op ceremony takes place at Ontario Ranger camp Specialist High Skills Majors Program

If you are enrolled in the Specialist High Skills Major Program at your school in Forestry, The Environment or Hospitality and Tourism; any relevant co-operative education credits that you obtain at an Ontario Ranger camp may also be used to fulfill your Specialist High Skills Major requirements.

 

What They Are


Specialist High Skills Majors let students focus on a career path that matches their skills and interests. Each major is a bundle of 8-10 courses in the student's selected field.

 

Who They're For

Students who are heading for university, college, apprenticeship or the workplace.

 

How They Help

Students have the opportunity to:

  • Gain important skills on the job with actual employers, at skills training centres and at school
  • Earn valuable industry certifications, including first aid and C.P.R. qualifications.
