What is the SAR Reference Toolbox?
The species at risk (SAR) Reference Toolbox houses an electronic library of documents, or tools, which can assist you incomplying with the requirements of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and its regulations. It provides the public, stakeholders, proponents and government with information and resources related to the ESA and species at risk in Ontario.The Toolbox is a dynamic resource that will grow over time as new resources are developed and new information comes forward.
What kinds of tools can I find in the Toolbox?
The SAR Reference Toolbox containstools such as best management practices, technical resources, guidance documents, policies and educational resources.It contains toolscreated by the Ministry of Natural Resources or other Ontario ministries and hyperlinks to documents created by organizationsoutside the Government of Ontario.
How do I access tools in the Toolbox?
The Toolbox table allows you to search for a specific word or topic, or to filter the tools based on the relevant species, sector or activity. The tools that meet your search criteria will be listed in the table. To access the tools, click on the hyperlink in the table or open and read the PDF document and click on the hyperlink in the PDF document.
How are these tools chosen?
Consideration is given to a number of aspects when determining if a tool should be included in the toolbox. This includes consideration of whether or not the tool meets the legislative requirements of the ESA, is relevant to the species in Ontario, and is based on best available information.
