With increasing public concern about the health of our natural environment and ecosystems, the
Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) is committed to providing reports to the public on the
state of Ontario’s natural resources. State of Resources Reports will provide information on
the health of Ontario’s natural resources, serving to improve government transparency and
accountability, and support partnerships and community involvement in the management of the
province’s natural resources.

Natural Resources:
Resource Reports provide information on a particular resource or broad grouping of
resources that are managed by the MNR. These reports generally include an assessment of the
state or condition of the resource, the factors influencing the resource, and current
management actions.
Special Interest Topics:
Special Interest Reports focus on topics related to natural resources management.
These reports provide important context for understanding complex resource management issues
that can range from wildlife diseases or insect pests to public uses of natural resources, to
the management of specific pieces of geography.
The ministry is developing an annual schedule of reporting through its regular planning process
that will consider public interest, available knowledge and reporting capacity.
