An individual or company submits an application to the Ministry. The local District office will determine whether the proposed site would be available for wind energy testing, or whether the area should be excluded, for resource or program reasons.
The applicant is given the opportunity to meet with Ministry staff to get further details related to their area of interest.
Applicants may apply for up to 44 grid cells (a grid cell = 45 - 65 ha. depending on location) in a single application.
Visit MNR’s Renewable Energy Extranet site to get more detailed information about how to develop a renewable energy project on Crown land.
