Waterpower

Ontario’s water resources are used to generate renewable energy.

MNR’s Waterpower Site Release and Development Review policy and procedure guide the development of waterpower projects through:

• The development of greenfield sites (where no water control structures exist) on Crown land
• The use of existing Crown owned water control structures for electricity generation 

To align with direction provided by the Green Energy Act, MNR’s Waterpower Site Release and Development Review policy and procedure are currently under review.
