
The International Conference on Rabies in the Americas (RITA) has been held annually since 1990 with the objective of presenting and discussing the advances in topics related to rabies. In recent years, participants have included almost 250 persons representing various countries in the Americas, principally North America, as well as other continents.
The 2009 meeting will be held from October 19th to 23rd in Quebec City, in the province of Quebec, Canada.
The 2006 meeting was held in Brasília, Brazil from October 15-20. It was hosted by the Health Ministry. For more information, visit http://www.rabies-in-the-americas.org

The 2005 meeting was held in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada from October 16-21, and was hosted by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
The 2004 meeting was held October 31 - November 4 in the Dominican Republic, hosted by the National Secretariat of Health.
The 14th Annual International Rabies in the Americas Meeting was held in Philadelphia, Pensylvania, USA, October 19th – 24th, 2003.
The 13th Annual International Rabies in the Americas Meeting was held in Oaxaca City, Oaxaca, Mexico November 3rd – 8th, 2002.
The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources hosted the 12th Annual International Rabies in the Americas Meeting. The conference, which featured presentations on all aspects of rabies research and rabies control, was held November 12th-16th, 2001, in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.
In keeping with the conference theme, "A Holistic Approach to Rabies and Rabies Control", emphasis was placed on presentations which featured synthesis and discussion on aspects of rabies and rabies control in the Americas. The conference also featured a special session on raccoon rabies in Northeastern United States and Canada, as well as sessions on bats, oral vaccination of wildlife, legal, economic and political aspects of rabies control programs and North-South dialogue around rabies control.
