The OFRI Seminar Series features experts on a variety of natural resources- and science-related topics, especially those related to advancements in forest research and forest management policy. Other topics have included forest fire management, horse logging, forestry in Finland, and bear management.
The speakers range from MNR research scientists, science specialists, and policy staff to university graduate students to researchers with other government agencies such as the Canadian Forest Service.
Each seminar is usually about an hour in length. The series runs from early fall through late spring, with about one seminar held every month, usually in the lecture pit at OFRI. Admission is free, and no reservations are required.
If you'd like to make a presentation as part of the OFRI Seminar Series, to suggest a topic for a future seminar, or to ask a question about the seminar series, please contact Abby Obenchain at (705)946-7422, abigail.obenchain@ontario.ca.
Most OFRI seminars are eligible for continuing education credits through the Canadian Institute of Forestry and Ontario Professional Foresters Association.
