How do I purchase a non-resident Outdoors Card?
Any hunter who is a non-resident of Ontario and who wants to hunt in the province needs an Outdoors Card. An Ontario non-resident Outdoors Card is a plastic, wallet-sized card, issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources to accompany your Ontario hunting licence tags. The hunting version of the Outdoors Card also proves your eligibility to purchase hunting licence tags. The cost of a non-resident Outdoors Card, excluding licence tags and game seals, is $9.68. The Outdoors Card is valid for three calendar years and is used for identification and administrative purposes.
If you have never had an Outdoors Card, you may choose one of the following options to obtain your first card:
- Authorized Licence Issuers – You can purchase your Outdoors Card by visiting an authorized licence issuer. They will issue a temporary Outdoors Card that you must keep with you until you receive your permanent card in the mail. Get a list of licence issuers.
- ServiceOntario – You can also purchase your Outdoors Card at select ServiceOntario centres across the province. They will issue a temporary Outdoors Card that you must keep with you until you receive your permanent card in the mail. Get a list of participating ServiceOntario locations.
PLEASE NOTE: First-time hunters from outside of Ontario can only purchase their Outdoors Cards in-person at participating ServiceOntario centres or from an authorized licence issuer.
To hunt in Ontario, non-residents must be at least 16 years of age and possess one of the following:

- An Ontario Hunter Examination Certificate/Report issued to you after January 1, 1968.
- An Ontario Hunting Licence Verification Certificate showing that you were issued an Ontario licence to hunt, or passed the Hunting Licence Examination.
- A certificate, issued to you after January 1, 1968, by a designated authority in any jurisdiction, giving you permission to purchase a hunting licence in that jurisdiction.
