Where to Enjoy Urban Fishing Along the Rideau River

Directions: From Highway #417 (The Queensway) take the Vanier Parkway exit. Travel northeast on the Vanier Parkway, and cross Montreal Road where the name changes to Crichton Street. Take a left turn on Dufferin and you will see the park ahead on Stanley Avenue along the water.

 

Description: A beautiful spot for a day of fishing in the heart of the city. From the shore you can see Porter Island. Playground facilities available to entertain the children. Very limited but free parking here. Washrooms may be available in park building when open for park programs. Plenty of shoreline access for fishing. Launching a canoe is possible in a few spots, but canoes must be carried quite a distance from parking area. Riverain Park


Directions: From Highway #417 (the Queensway) take the Vanier Parkway exit. Travel northeast on the Vanier Parkway and then turn left (north) on McArthur Avenue. Follow McArthur Avenue all the way to the end where it meets the Rideau River. Pay per use parking available here.

 

Description: A beautiful spot for a day of fishing in the heart of the city. Playground facilities available to entertain the children. Picnic tables and plenty of squirrels to feed while picnicking. Parking is pay per use during the week but free on the weekends. Plenty of shoreline access for fishing. A bike path provides access for those that want to enjoy the urban fishing spots by bicycle.
