Petrie Island
Directions: Take Highway #417 east to the 417/174 split, continue east towards Orleans on Highway #174. After the Place D'Orleans Mall exit on Trim Road. Follow Trim Road north to Petrie Island. A boat launch is located at Petrie Island Bait and Tackle.
Description: The boat launch is operated by the Petrie Island Bait and Tackle Shop on the south side of the causeway. There is a fee to launch here. A new canoe and kayak launch was built on Petrie Island in 2004. Petrie Island has many shoreline fishing opportunities plus areas for swimming (new beach) and a nature interpretive centre run by the Friends of Petrie Island. A great spot for a day of fishing and outdoor activity close to home.
