Urban Fishing in the Ottawa Area

Fishing can be enjoyed right in your neighbourhood!

Have you ever thought that you would enjoy an afternoon of fishing but realized that you didn't have endless amounts of time and money to travel to remote fishing spots?

Maybe you're a novice and would like to get into fishing but think that you have to go to remote lakes and rivers to get a fish on your hook.

So grab your rod, hop on the bus or your bike (see links below), and try many of the parks in the Ottawa area for some great urban fishing in your own community.

If you have a boat, you can launch right down the road along the Ottawa River or along the Rideau River and find some of the great fishing spots along our rivers in Canada's Capital Region. Canoeing and kayaking along the river is another great way to enjoy the sport of fishing. There are many places along the rivers that a canoe or a kayak can be launched with relative ease.

Please enjoy these fishing areas responsibly. Do not litter, or destroy the shoreline or park areas by dragging your canoe.

Don't forget to take your fishing licence with you. For more information on fishing licences and regulations please see our recreational fishing regulations summary for the current year.
