Why is this fund limited to incorporated organizations?
Ontario’s Transfer Payment and Accountability Directive requires that funds only be transferred from the Ontario government to legal entities.

What types of projects are eligible?
Restoration, rehabilitation and enhancement projects are eligible if they benefit fish, wildlife and biodiversity. Special consideration will be given to projects that support existing landscape level conservation or stewardship plans.

How much money is available?
The LSHRP has $300,000 available for biodiversity conservation projects per year. There is a $20,000 funding limit for each project. To receive project funding, you will be required to match funds with the amount requested. Applicants can submit one project per year.

My project involves species at risk – why is this not listed in the project priorities?
Applicants seeking funding for species at risk projects are encouraged to apply for funding through the Species at Risk Stewardship Fund instead of the LSHRP. The Species at Risk Stewardship Fund application package cam be found here.

I need to build a storage facility – is this considered an eligible project?
No, the Land Stewardship and Habitat Restoration Program does not support infrastructure related projects. Similarly, any projects that require significant capital expenditure will not be considered.

Do I need to obtain permits for my project?
Yes, you are responsible for obtaining all relevant permits and legal authorization(s) required for project implementation.
