LAKES MINNITAKI - BOTSFORD  FACTS

 

  • The Minnitaki-Abrams-Pelican-Botsford chain of lakes is located in Northwestern Ontario surrounding the town of Sioux Lookout.  
  • The lakes are part of the Lac Seul–English River system and are renowned for high quality fisheries.

  • Smelt may not be used as bait or possessed for use as bait
  • Non-residents camping on Crown land must follow conservation fishing licence limits
  • No person may possess any life fish taken by angling other than baitfish.
WATERBODY EXCEPTION DETAILS
Minnitaki Lake, Grassy Bay and English River – between English Falls downstream to include all of Grassy Bay of Minnitaki Lake  Fish sanctuary – no fishing from Apr. 1 – June 14. 
Minnitaki Lake, Red Pine Bay All species S - 0 and C - 0 from 3rd Sat. in May - June 14. 
Minnitaki Lake, Twin Bay and the Rice River, including Twill Lake, Flower Lake, Twinflower Lake, Purity Lake, Parnes Lake and connecting streams, Twin-flower Creek, and Twin Bay of Minnitaki Lake (collectively known as the Rice River) and water extending approximately 300 m (980 ft.) North, to the parallel of latitude 49O58’34”N., drawn across Minnitaki Lake.  Fish sanctuary – no fishing from Apr. 1 – June 14.
