Carry Your Licence With You

Your Outdoors Card provides privileges to you alone; it is not transferable. Remember to carry your Outdoors Card with you at all times when fishing.

For Ontario residents, a complete and valid licence to fish consists of:

  • an Outdoors Card plus a valid fishing licence tag

     OR

  • an Ontario Resident Temporary Fishing Licence and Outdoors Card and Application.

For Canadian residents or non-Canadian residents, a complete and valid licence to fish consists of:

  • an Outdoors Card (or a Canadian resident or non-Canadian resident Temporary Outdoors Card and Application)

    PLUS

  • a valid fishing licence tag.

An Outdoors Card alone is NOT a fishing licence.

Note: An Outdoors Card is not required for a one-day fishing licence.

If a Conservation Officer asks to see your licence, the law states that you must show it.
