Policy Report Search Tool Tutorial

This tutorial explains how to search for a policy report in Ontario's Crown Land Use Policy Atlas (the Atlas). The tutorial is divided into two parts: 1) Search for Policy a Report and 2) Display Results.

1) Search for a Policy Report

A radio button in the top left of the Policy Report Search Tool allows movement between a policy report search and an amendment search. Different fields become active depending upon which type of search is selected.

Policy reports can be searched by any combination of the following:

Area ID (Area Identification Number)

Enter the exact or partial Area ID for the area of interest. See Understanding Area Identification Numbers for an explanation of the term "Area ID".

Area Name

Enter the exact or partial name of the area of interest. See Understanding Policy Reports for an explanation of the term "Area Name".

Designation

By selecting "Designation" from the drop down menu, a list of all areas with this designation will be listed. To narrow the search, enter known information in any of the other available search boxes. See Glossary for definitions of the various land use designations.

Category

The "Category" field is used in conjunction with a search using the Provincial Parks or Enhanced Management Area designations. When Provincial Park or Enhanced Management Area is chosen, a choice of corresponding categories is enabled. See Glossary for a list of possible Provincial Park and Enhanced Management area categories.

Administrative Area

A search using the "Administrative Area" field will return policy reports within different Ministry of Natural Resources administrative areas. This drop down menu offers a choice of Park Administrative Zone, Region, or District.

Select

The "Select" field is used in conjunction with a search using "Administrative Area". Options under this heading are only available when an administrative area has been selected. In this drop down menu, Ministry of Natural Resources offices related to the selected administrative area will be listed.

2) Display Results

Display results are shown directly below the search window. Policy reports that match the search criteria are returned in a table format. A specific policy report may be viewed by selecting the link the in the "Area Name" column. The map link in the right most column centres on the location of the land use area.

To begin a new search, select the "Clear Search" button in the search window.
