Overview

The Forest Resource Inventory (FRI) Project is acquiring imagery for over 500,000 square kilometres of Crown land and forest management areas in Ontario. The imagery products will include 20 cm panchromatic and 40 cm multi-spectral digital orthophotography.
 
The FRI Project imagery was taken in the summer months with trees in full leaf as opposed to previous projects which traditionally captured imagery in southern Ontario when trees were without foliage

Acquisition Date

2006 – 2010

 

 

Deliverables

  • 20 cm pan sharpened true colour 5 km x 5 km geotiff and compressed tiles
  • Raw data – 20 cm panchromatic and 40 cm multi spectral (red, green, blue, near infrared)
  • 20 cm stereo imagery with supporting control data

 

Note: Only complete tiles are being distributed; clipping to specific features within an individual tile is not available. All images are available as georeferenced products. 

Indexes for the FRI project are available as shape files that can be viewed with GIS software. These indexes provide the geographic extent and tile numbers for the project and can be requested from lio@ontario.ca.

 

Access

The FRI imagery will be available to Ontario Government ministries at no cost as the project nears completion in 2010. Members of the Ontario Geospatial Data Exchange (OGDE) and the public must purchase the imagery.

5km x 5km ortho tile:  $50.00
Stereo Flight Line: $100.00
Digital Surface Model: $100.00
All products subject to PST and GST where applicable
