Overview

The QuickBird Project acquired satellite imagery for approximately 125,000 square kilometres of land across Ontario at a cost of $3.2 million. Several Ontario Government ministries funded the project. Digital Globe's QuickBird earth-observation satellite was used to capture the imagery, providing the highest resolution satellite data available commercially. Nearly 140,000 square kilometres of imagery has been captured and processed, including images of First Nations communities in northern Ontario. The imagery supports, among other purposes, fire management and ground water research.
