


Overview
The Greater Toronto Area (GTA) Orthophotography Projects represent imagery acquired in 2002, 2005, 2007 and 2008. These projects provide accurate orthophotography and digital elevation data coverage for significant natural features such as: Oak Ridges Moraine, southern extent of the Niagara Escarpment and shorelines and coastal wetlands along Lake Ontario.
The 2002 imagery covers approximately 27,000 square kilometres, capturing the Golden Horseshoe, stretching north to Lake Simcoe and just west of Prince Edward County. The 2005 and 2007 projects covered the area within the Regions of Durham, York, Peel & Halton, City of Toronto and the City of Hamilton.

2002 Project
The GTA 2002 imagery (20, 30 & 50 cm resolution) is available to project partners and members of the Ontario Geospatial Data Exchange (OGDE) at no cost. Other organizations must purchase the imagery.
Format: 1km tiles Geotiff and MrSid, 10 – 20 km Geotiff and Mosaics, 20 km Digital Elevation Models.
2005 Project
The GTA 2005 imagery (20cm resolution) is available from LIO to Ontario Government ministries.

2007 Project
The GTA 2007 imagery (10 & 15 cm resolution) is only available through LIO, to organizations in the Ontario Public Service (OPS).

Note: Indexes for the GTA imagery projects are available as shape files (*.shp) that can be viewed with GIS software. These indexes provide the geographic extent and tile numbers for the project and can be requested from lio@ontario.ca.
Cost
GTA 2002 imagery pricing:
Administration fee: $100.00 (charged on all orders)
Price per km²: $50.00
All products subject to PST and GST where applicable.
For orders that are less than 10 km2 in size, the client will be forwarded directly to a private sector distributor.
