Ontario Parcel

The Ontario Parcel is a standardized, Ontario-wide, database of assessment, ownership and Crown parcel mapping information. The Ontario Parcel database was developed through a partnership between Teranet Enterprises Inc., the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation and the Ministry of Natural Resources.

The Ontario Parcel database is a one-stop source of assessment, ownership and Crown parcel mapping that can be used for assessment, taxation, land registration and management, as well as land use and business planning.

Ontario Parcel Layers:

  • The Assessment Parcel layer is mapped for the entire province. The assessment parcel layer contains civic address information. When users order the assessment parcel layer, they will receive the geometry of the parcels, Assessment Roll Numbers (ARN), and civic addresses where they exist.
  • The Ownership Parcel layer is available only where it existed at the time the Ontario Parcel agreement was signed, which is largely in southern and eastern Ontario.
  • The Crown Parcel layer is mapped for the province, except in areas where ownership mapping (Teranet) already exists. In those areas, the Crown parcels will be updated. The Crown Parcel layer is a mixture of various types of tenure (e.g. patents and leases). These layers show geometric features only.

Accessing Ontario Parcel Data:

LIO provides assessment and Crown parcel data to municipalities, government ministries, conservation authorities, and other users. Please note that municipalities must access the ownership data from Teranet Enterprises Inc.

Eligible organizations must enter into the appropriate Ontario Parcel licenses and become members of the LIO Data Exchange to access the Ontario Parcel data. With these agreements in place, Ontario Parcel data is available at no cost.
