LIO works with a number of organizations to create, manage and distribute provincial data sets. Some key LIO provincial data sets are:
1. Ontario Road Network
2. Ontario Trail Network
3. Ontario Parcel
1. Ontario Road Network (ORN)
LIO collaborated with municipalities and the federal government to develop a geospatial database for Ontario roads known as the Ontario Road Network (ORN). The ORN includes data on over 250,000 kilometers of Ontario municipal, provincial and resource roads.
LIO maintains the ORN using data from the road authorities with legislative responsibility: municipalities, the Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of Natural Resources.
Data-sharing agreements are developed with organizations responsible for approving new roads, assigning road names and addresses. ORN data is available through the LIO Warehouse at no cost through the Ontario Geospatial Data Exchange or the Unrestricted Use Licence.
2. Ontario Trail Network (OTN)
The Ontario Trail Network (OTN) is a partnership created to capture recreational trails data across Ontario. LIO collects trails data in partnership with the Ministry of Health Promotion, in support of their Ontario Trails Strategy. LIO works with trail users and managers to define data collection methods, data standards and long-term data maintenance approaches. OTN data is available through the LIO Warehouse at no cost through the Ontario Geospatial Data Exchange or the Unrestricted Use Licence.
We have a Google map called "Do We Have Your Trail?" to display OTN trail information. The data included in this map is based on GIS/GPS coordinates provided to LIO by trail organizations.

3. Ontario Parcel (OP)
The Ontario Parcel is comprised of the following data layers:
Ontario Parcel data can be used for assessment, taxation, land registration and management, as well as land use and business planning. The Ontario Parcel database was developed through a partnership between Teranet Enterprises Inc., the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation and the Ministry of Natural Resources.
Ontario Parcel data is available to eligible organizations at no cost through the LIO Warehouse under the Ontario Parcel data licence.
