Unrestricted Use License

The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) makes a number of digital geographic data sets

available through an Unrestricted Use License (UUL). These data sets are provided free of

charge to promote the use of standardized data across the province. Licensed users can access

“Unrestricted Data” through the LIO Warehouse for free.

MNR does not provide technical support for this data. All licensed users should have a working

knowledge of GIS concepts, spatial data management, digital map production and cartographic

principles.

To become a licensed user, you must fully complete and sign two copies of the Unrestricted Use License and return both copies to MNR. Please note that incomplete licence agreements cannot be processed.

Return copies to Christine Bolton at christine.bolton@ontario.ca or by mail:

non-commercial, internal and professional purposes. The data is available for $16.00 per

credited from your total if the price of the data exceeds $100.00.

A complete listing of the data available for purchase can be found in the Data Warehouse Order

Form. If you would like to purchase data, please complete the form and send to lio@ontario.ca

with a shape file of the area you are interested in purchasing.

Using this information, we will extract the data and provide you with a quote to purchase it.

Both the administration fee and the cost of the data can be paid by credit card or by a cheque

made payable to the Minister of Finance.
