The LIO Web Map Service (WMS) provides the ability to create interoperable, interactive maps without having any local GIS software and using data physically residing in more than one location.
The Web Map Service - Simple Point (WMS-SP) service makes it possible to integrate point data residing outside of the Land Information Ontario (LIO) infrastructure into Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standard spatial applications. The WMS - SP reads information stored either in a comma delimited text file or an Oracle table. Each point feature must contain a single X and Y coordinate to represent its spatial location. This technology will make it easy for users to spatially enable locally stored datasets and easily integrate them with data in the LIO Warehouse, as well as with third party data and services.
