Ontario's Forests - Committed to Sustainable Forest Management
The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) is the steward of Ontario’s Crown forests and is responsible for ensuring that these forests
are managed in a way that protects their long-term health. The Ministry’s Forests Branch within the Policy Division, develops policies and programs that guide the sustainable management of the forest. The Ministry’s Regional Operations Division oversees the development of forest plans, monitors operations and reports on forest level activities.
Forested land comprises 66 per cent of Ontario or about 70.4 million hectares – almost 174 million acres, equal to the land masses of Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the Netherlands combined. More about Ontario's Forests »
