Ontario's landscape is characterized by its vast and diverse forests. They range from the deciduous forest of southern Ontario, through the mixed forest of the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence region in central and northwestern Ontario, to the conifer-dominated boreal forests of the north.
Forested land comprises 66 per cent of Ontario or about 70.4 million hectares – almost 174 million acres, equal to the land masses of Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the Netherlands combined. More about Ontario's Forests »
