In November, 2004, Hon. David Ramsay, Minister of Natural Resources, appointed the Minister’s Council on Forest Sector Competitiveness to bring together industry, labour, communities, First Nations and government to develop recommendations to ensure a secure future for the forest products industry, workers and communities. The final Report was submitted on May 27th, 2005 and contained twenty-six recommendations including “that a Processing Streamlining Task Force be appointed to review guidelines, regulations and policies affecting the forest sector.”
This report contains the results of the deliberations of the Process Streamlining Task Force and is based on the input of all Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) Districts and Sustainable License Holders across the province. The report includes detailed recommendations that will contribute to achieving a more effective and cost-efficient forest program. The Implementation Plan describes how individual recommendations will be actioned.
