Professional Forester Roster
Recent Forester graduates are interviewed, ranked and placed on a list known as the Forester Roster. The list is shared with recruiting managers across the province. Managers primarily use the list to fill contract forester positions. These contract positions are an excellent way to gain valuable experience to compete for full-time forester positions.

Professional Forester Internship Program
The Forester Internship Program is designed to attract Canada's best recent university forestry graduates.
Applicants must apply to the Forester Roster. Top candidates from the Forester Roster interviews will be offered forester intern positions.
Key Features of the Forester Internship Program
- MNR field forester positions. Some head office specialized forester positions also available
- Forest industry work experience
- Balance of formal training and self-directed learning
- Mentoring
- Meaningful and varied professional forestry work, qualifying individuals for Registered Professional Forester status
Qualification Criteria
- graduated from an accredited forestry university in the last five years
- some work experience in forestry
- knowledge of forest management including ecological systems, adaptive management, sustainable forest management practices, forest management planning, forest industry practices
- computer and information management skills
- communication, interpersonal, leadership, innovation, negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada or, under the federal Immigration Act, have written authority to work in Canada from an immigration officer. Important: Please ensure you note how you meet this qualification in your cover letter.
The Forester Roster for 2009 is now complete. MNR managers can now use the roster to assist them to fill entry-level forester positions in locations throughout Ontario.Foresters on the roster are asked to keep MNR posted of changes in their address, employment status and any resume updates.
