Forestry education

 

  • Learning Resources in Ontario, this page provides access to classroom lessons about forestry learning for teachers and educators.  A list of schools offering post-secondary programs in forestry and general assistance information is available for students seeking careers in forestry. 
  • The Canadian Ecology Centre, the Canadian Ecology Centre offers unique and valuable twist to outdoor education by incorporating up-to-date technologies (such as GPS and GIS) into their programs. This centre is a non-profit educational organization with charitable status.

  • Canadian Model Forest Network, represents 15 non-profit member organizations nationwide. We bring together the information, tools and best practices to help support forest-based communities overcome obstacles that affect their long-term social and economic well-being
  • Ontario Centre for Northern Forest Ecosystem Research, applied research on the effects of forestry practices on boreal ecosystems, including wildlife and fish habitat and tourism values
  • Environmental Research in the Great Lakes Region,is a partnership that provides one place online for people to find information relating to the bi-national Great Lakes-St. Lawrence region of North America.
  • Forest Ecosystem Science Co-operative Inc., (Forest Co-op) is a partnership of organizations investing in forest science initiatives for the purpose of supporting sustainable forest management and reducing uncertainties associated with forest management decisions.
  • Forestry Research Partnership, a cooperative initiative between Tembec Inc., the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, the Canadian Forest Service, and the Canadian Ecology Centre in Mattawa, Ontario.
  • FORINTEK Canada -- wood products research, Forintek develops innovative manufacturing processes, conducts market and economic studies, contributes to the development of building codes and standards, and offers training.
  • International Model Forest Network, local partnerships created among groups representing industry, environmentalists, community associations, indigenous peoples, and other relevant interests, who work together to define and implement a shared vision of sustainable forest management.

  • OntarioWood, The Ontario Wood site offers information on the types of wood species that are indigenous to Ontario, Ontario's wood harvesting practices and the diversity of wood products that are produced in our province.
