Resource Stewardship Agreements

More Information

Resource stewardship agreements are business to business agreements, negotiated by a resource-based tourism establishment and the holder of a Sustainable Forest Licence.

Resource stewardship agreements describe the relationships between resource-based tourism establishments and by holders of Sustainable Forest Licenses formalized under a memorandum of understanding reached by the government and the tourism and forest industries. These relationships are documented in resource stewardship agreements and enable the resource-based tourism and forestry industries in Ontario to co-exist and prosper.

Tourism and Forestry Industry Memorandum of Understanding

The Tourism and Forestry Industry Memorandum of Understanding and resultant Resource Stewardship Agreements (RSAs) represent formal recognition by the tourist and forest industries and the government of Ontario of the two industries’ interests in the forests of Ontario and a commitment to a process of collaborative goal setting and issue resolution. This Memorandum establishes a framework for negotiating RSA's that will allow the Resource-Based Tourism and Forestry Industries in Ontario to co-exist and prosper. This memorandum sets the general principles and minimum content for an RSA.
