Ontario's Forest Industry at a Glance
The forest industry is the second largest manufacturing sector in Ontario with sales of about 
$18 billion per year and exports of about $9 billion. The industry provides 80 – 85,000 direct jobs and an estimated 200,000 indirect jobs and is vital to the prosperity and livelihood of many communities in Northern Ontario that depend on this sector as it only major employer and tax base.
