MNR regards the Independent Forest Audits reports as a very important component of the forest management program. Action plans form a key step in understanding the recommendations and ensuring that a response is in place to address the recommendations. In addition, action plans represent an important part of the adaptive management loop to promote continual improvement in forest management practices.
Appendix E of the Independent Forest Audit Process and Protocol sets out the requirements for action plans. Upon receipt of the final audit report, an action plan is prepared by the affected Sustainable Forest License holder and MNR District Manager to respond to recommendations. MNR Regional and main office personnel provide input as needed. This action plan is subject to written approval by MNR and constitutes the official response to the audit recommendations.
For each recommendation, action plans outline:
i. The action required
ii. The organization and individual responsible for doing the work
iii. Deadline dates
iv. A method for tracking the progress of the Action Plan.
Beginning with the 2007 audits, action plans are available on this website.
