Forest Roads and Water Crossing Initiative - Task Team Report

The Forest Roads and Water Crossing Initiative – Task Team Report was prepared, reviewed and finalized in 2002/03, by a joint steering committee of forest industry sustainable forest licence holders and employees of the Ministry of Natural Resources.

The report addresses the subjects of liability assessment, determination of responsibility and planning implications for forest roads and water crossings on Crown land.

The report itself is not a policy document. It is intended to provide policy makers with consolidated information and advice that may be referenced during future policy development. While this final report may be judged to contain valid conclusions and sound approaches to resolving current difficulties and issues, it must be kept in mind that the report should only be viewed as a product intended to assist in the policy development process.

A number of the report’s conclusions have been incorporated into the proposed revision of the Forest Management Planning Manual (FMPM) which is currently undergoing public consultation.
