List of Forest Resource Processing Facilities (Mills) in Ontario

This page provides a list of active mills in Ontario as of April 1, 2009. This list categorizes facilities that have processed more than 1,000 cubic metres per year of wood for the years 2004-2008. Calculations are based on volumes from Ontario’s Timber Resource Evaluation System (TREES) and the Ministry of Natural Resources’ electronic Facility Annual Return System (eFAR). TREES is a corporate computer application that calculates and tracks volumes and values of harvested forest resources and is used for invoicing forest companies for Crown charges. Each facility license holder in Ontario is required to submit an electronic Facility Annual Return documenting their forest resource utilization.

Sawmills are sorted by three categories (large, medium and small) based on the amount of fibre consumed by the facility.

The mills are listed by commonly recognized forest sector categories and by administrative region and district of the Ministry of Natural Resources.
