Chronic Wasting Disease Test Results

This page will provide the test results for the 2009 CWD Surveillance Program once test results are returned by the lab, starting in December 2009.

Hunters who participate in the 2009 Surveillance Program will be provided with a specimen number when the tissue sample is collected from their deer.

Hunters who have dropped off a head at a freezer depot will be notified of their specimen number so they will be able to check the results.

Participating hunters are reminded to retain their specimen number so they may identify the test result for their animal when the results become available.

Samples from harvested deer are intended to screen for evidence of Chronic Wasting Disease infection, and results are not meant to imply assurance of meat quality for human  consumption.

The CWD test result database may be accessed using the Individual Test Results link below. The database will be updated as test results are received from the Canadian Co-Operative Wildlife Health Centre lab.

Note: Not all samples may be tested. (For example, if an excess of samples is collected from a limited area, not all samples will be tested.) If a sample is not tested, this will be indicated in the test result table.

Participants will be notified directly by telephone or in person if their deer tests positive for CWD.
