$20,000 Fine For Removing Aggregate While Under Suspension

An aggregate company has been fined $20,000 for removing aggregate while under suspension.

J & P Leveque Bros. Haulage Limited pleaded guilty to hauling material from an aggregate pit while the pit licence was under suspension.

The court heard that between November 23, 2009, and February 24, 2010, Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officers and an aggregate officer from the Minden area determined that on ten separate days, material was hauled from a licensed aggregate pit while its licence was suspended. The pit was located south of the Town of Minden on Deep Bay Road. The pit was under suspension because a site plan had not been submitted for the site within the required time. J & P Leveque Bros. Haulage Limited was fined $2,000 for each day that material was removed from the site.

Justice of the Peace Diane Jackson heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Minden, on December 2, 2010.
