Man Fined $2,000 for Operating Unlicensed Aggregate Site

A Bobcaygeon man has been fined $2,000 for excavating and hauling aggregate material without a licence or permit.

The court heard that Dale Fawcett removed 12 to15 truckloads of gravel from his property northeast of Bobcaygeon during the spring of 2010.

In Ontario, the extraction of aggregate is regulated and licensed by the Ministry of Natural Resources. Operators require licences and permits that regulate the amount of material removed and how it can be used.

Justice of the Peace Carl Young heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Peterborough, on August 12, 2010.
