Landowner Fined $7,500 For Operating Quarry Without A Licence

A Havelock landowner has been fined $7,500 for operating a quarry without a licence.

Glenn Hubble of Havelock pleaded guilty to a charge under the Aggregate Resources Act.

The court heard that on November 26, 2008, a Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officer inspected Hubble’s property on Hubble Road in Belmont Township, in response to a complaint the ministry had received several days prior. Subsequent investigation revealed that a large quantity of limestone rock had been removed and used by a landscape company.

The case was heard before Justice of the Peace Jason Mariasine in the Ontario Court of Justice, Peterborough, on June 10, 2010.

Limestone table rock is regulated under the Aggregates Resources Act and cannot be excavated without the ministry’s authorization.
