Joint Investigation Leads To Fine For Unlawful Sale of Whitefish Roe

 

An Ontario wholesale fish supplier was fined for selling fish in Wisconsin without a wholesale fish dealing licence.

 

All Temp Foods Ltd of Leamington, Ontario, pleaded guilty and was fined a total of $3,442.50.

 

Court heard that on three separate occasions between October 13 and October 27, 2008, All Temp Foods Ltd sold whitefish roe in the State of Wisconsin without a wholesale fish dealing licence as required by Wisconsin law. In total, 780 kilograms of whitefish roe were sold. Charges were laid by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources as a result of a joint investigation between Wisconsin and Ontario conservation officers.

 

Judge Peter C. Diltz heard the case in the Door County Circuit Court, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, on May 17, 2010.
