$1,000 Fine and Hunting Suspension for Careless Hunting
A Sturgeon Falls man has been fined for careless hunting.
Rheal Roberge pleaded guilty, was fined $1,000 and received a one-year hunting suspension. Roberge must also take the Hunter Education Course and pass the examination before he is allowed to hunt again. A rifle seized at the time of the incident will be returned once the fine is paid.
Court heard that on November 6, 2009, Roberge fired three shots at a bull moose that was standing near the centre of Dokis Road. A deep gully in Dokis Road between where Roberge was standing and the bull moose made it impossible to see vehicles on that section of the road. Traffic on Dokis Road during hunting season is high.
Justice of the Peace James Bubba heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Sturgeon Falls, on May 17, 2010.
