Hunting at Night Proves Costly

Three men from South Frontenac Township were fined a total of $2,500 for unlawfully hunting deer at night and had their hunting licences suspended for 2010.

William Taylor Truscott was fined $1,000 and James Dylan Truscott fined $750 after pleading guilty to unlawfully hunting at night.

The court heard that on November 21, 2009, Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officers investigated a truck parked with its headlights shining into a field. They found three people in the truck. A loaded 12-gauge shotgun was between the two passengers in the front seat. This incident took place on Opinicon Road in South Frontenac Township, an area well-known for its abundance of deer.

Justice of the Peace Lorraine Watson heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Kingston, on April 8, 2010.

Terrence Earl Hatcher, the third passenger in the vehicle, previously pleaded guilty to the same offence and was fined $750 by Justice of the Peace Cathy Hickling who heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Kingston, on March 25, 2010.
