Marmora Man Fined $1,000 for Extra Lines While Ice Fishing
A Marmora man has been fined $1,000 for ice fishing with more than two lines for the second time in less than two years.
Robert Somerville pleaded guilty to the charge of angling through the ice with more than two lines under the Ontario Fishery Regulations, 2007.
The court heard that on February 7, 2010, a Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officer was conducting a snowmobile check of people fishing through the ice. When he approached an ice hut, he saw Somerville leaning over an ice fishing hole, trying to push a line down the hole. There was a knife on the table and two lines had been cut. It was determined that Somerville had a total of five lines set.
Justice of the Peace Deanne Chapelle heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Belleville, on March 9, 2010.
