Ice Fishing Blitzes to be Conducted in Sudbury Area During Ice Fishing Season
Sudbury District Conservation Officers and local police forces will be conducting enforcement blitzes on popular ice fishing lakes in the Sudbury area throughout the ice fishing season.
Anglers are reminded to consult the 2010 Fishing Regulations Summary prior to venturing out on the ice. Fisheries Management Zone 10, which includes the Sudbury District, has had some regulation changes, such as new possession limits and slot size.
There have also been some updates to open season for lake trout, new open season information for yellow perch and new walleye and sauger regulations for specific waters of the French River.
In addition to the regulation changes, anglers should review other applicable regulations, including the requirement to carry a valid fishing licence while angling and ensuring that any ice hut is properly registered. The latter can be done free of charge by contacting your local Ministry of Natural Resources Office.
For further information on fishing regulations, please consult the 2010 Fishing Regulations Summary, available free of charge at ServiceOntario/Government Information Centres, from licence issuers and at ontario.ca/fishing.
To report a natural resource violation, call 1-877-TIPS-MNR (847-7667) toll-free any time or contact your ministry office during regular business hours. You can also call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
