Failing To Comply With Court Order Lands Barrie Angler In Jail
A Barrie man has been sentenced to 45 days in jail after being convicted of failing to comply with a court order suspending his fishing licence.
In addition, Danh Luu cannot apply for or hold a fishing licence in Ontario for five years. He was placed on probation for two years and his fishing tackle was forfeited. He was also convicted for angling without a licence and received a suspended sentence.
Court heard that on April 10, 2009, conservation officers observed Luu angling from the docks at the Barrie marina. At the time, Luu was under a one-year fishing suspension after being convicted on June 24, 2008 for fishing violations.
This is Luu’s fourth conviction for angling without a licence since 2007. Court heard that Luu had not paid the fines imposed in any of the previous convictions.
Justice of the Peace Felix Mora heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Barrie, on December 9, 2009.
