Cobourg Man Convicted of Numerous Hunting Offences

A Cobourg man has been fined $ 2,000 and his hunting licence has been suspended for one year for illegal hunting activities.

Justice of the Peace Chapelle heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, in Belleville, on December 15, 2009.

Ronald Anderson pleaded guilty to the charges of shooting from a road way, trespass while hunting and abandoning game under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.

The court heard that Anderson had been hunting deer on December 1, 2009, in Madoc Township, during the muzzle loader season.  He saw a deer on private property, behind a page wire fence.  He shot from the road right-of-way.  Anderson then left the area, leaving the dead deer on the property.
