Sturgeon Falls Resident Fined $2,500 for Abandoning Bull Moose
A Sturgeon Falls resident has been convicted of illegally killing and abandoning a bull moose.
Richard Paulin pleaded guilty to hunting a bull moose without a licence and for allowing the moose to spoil. He was fined $2,500 and given a one-year hunting licence suspension.
Court heard that on October 26, 2008, conservation officers responded to an anonymous TIPS-MNR complaint in the area of Muskay Bay Road, St Charles. A bull moose carcass was found that had been shot approximately two weeks prior and had been left to spoil. An investigation revealed that Paulin, hunting without a moose licence, had taken a shot at a moose and failed to recover the animal.
Justice of the Peace Lori-Ann Toulouse heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Sudbury, on November 10, 2009.
